A little bit about me

Hi -- glad you dropped by! My name is Carrie, and I am an assistant professor in the Department of Health Policy at Vanderbilt University. My research interests include the impact of health reform measures on historically-underserved populations. Specifically, I am interested in evaluating changes to the Medicaid program for people with mental illness and substance use disorders. I'm also passionate about study design for impact evaluation.

I believe the world needs rigorous, timely, and relevant evidence to inform program and policy decisions. I also believe that a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is an active, rather than passive, one. These beliefs are intertwined in my research, teaching, and academic service. I am committed to actively identifying, engaging, and promoting communities who have been underserved by our education and health care systems.

I received a PhD from Harvard's Interfaculty Initiative in Health Policy and an M.Ed. and B.S. from George Peabody College at Vanderbilt University. In my free time, I enjoy drinking coffee outside; hunting for good veggie tacos; live music; crossword puzzles; and choosing colors in R.
